Camera Angles/ Shots/ Movement:

In our script of our film trailer it gives an idea of the angles and shots that we desire to use. We used these ideas and developed them slightly, making sure we knew how to create the shot.

In the first image: of the friends and family morning we decided that we would use a birds eye view shot. This view would help to capture the grave and the character kneeling down. Also it will show the berets of the soldiers which is important to show that the man who died was in the army. A birds eye view suggests that it is a shot that looks directly down on the subject and this is what we intend to do. However the camera angle may become oblique; which means it will be slightly tilted.

The next shot is a close up on the woman's face. This shot will have to be cleverly edited as it is directly after a birds eye view shot. The close up is to show the expression of sadness on the woman's face. Also it is used to introduce the main character. This to specify the face which a close up shot is initially used for.

The next shot is a mid shot which then zooms in to create a close up shot. The clip will show the surroundings that the character is in. This is to create the atmosphere for the audience as the surroundings will be quite dark and dull; which is typical for a thriller genre. Then the clip will zoom in so that the audience is focused onto the baby's face, to show the blank face, which shows no expression. Hopefully giving the audience the idea that the baby is dead.
This shot will be a mid shot which will include match on action editing. Match on action is form of editing which one shot cuts to another of the same action. This allows a continuous effect to the clip. The mid shot will allow the audience to see the character clearly, but also allow them to gather an idea of the surrounding.  In this shot we will make sure the character is in the centre as this will be the main focus point for the audience.

The next shot is an over the shoulder shot. We decided to use this shot as it shows how the mother is looking into the crib, as well as showing the baby from a higher perspective. The looking down on the baby will allow the audience to feel that the baby is less importance to the main character. Therefore this will allow the audience to place the characters in the scene. This over the shoulder shot will be on an oblique angle, this then allows us to zoom in of the babies face, therefore creating a close up which will effectively give the audience more detail on the babies blank less expression.

The close shot in this clip will be used on the mothers (main characters) face to show the audience clearly that she is sleeping. This is to create the atmosphere for the audience. This shot will then gradually zoom out and tilt up the wall to the ceiling, which will effectively creating a vertical panning shot. This is a movement which is continuous without editing. This will then become very bright and blurry to give the audience that it is now the dream the woman is having.

Once again the mid shot of the cot is used. This is to add a continuous effect to our trailer. Also to help the audience remember by repeating similar shots. This will help show the baby in its surroundings, which will still be dark and dull. This will add mystery and a spooky feel which will link with the idea of a thriller.

We decided that the shot of the police car, will be a panning shot this is so that we can capture the action smoothly. A panning shot is a horizontal action shot on a still vertical axis. The object will stay in the same position of the shot, this is to create the effect of movement in the scene. We agreed that is the police car was moving it would have a greater thrill and excitement, compared to if it was stationary.

This shot will then fade into a mid shot. This will be used, so that another actor will be introduced, but because it is not a close-up the audience will be able to tell that this character is less important. Also it will show the police vehicle; linking it to the shot before. The shot will be taken from a low angle. This is so that the audience appear to be looking up at the character; which will add suspense and a suggestion of importance.

The next shot will start as a long shot and then become an extreme close-up. This will happen by the character running towards the camera. This could also show the use of match on action. The long shot is to show the character out of focus, which will add suspicion for the audience. The extreme shot will then be on the characters blood shot eyes, this will add shock and a realistic and uncomfortable feeling. This atmospheres and feelings are often associated in thrillers. This can be seen in the deconstruction of 'Black Swan'.

The last shot will be a mid shot. This shot will be taken at eye-level; which will give the idea that the camera is being used as another character. This shot will then zoom out to show more of the surroundings. This will  hopefully add the thrilling setting to our film trailer. This shot will be off the main character running towards the camera. The camera will have quite a jerky feel to it, creating an uncomfortable, weird atmosphere for the audience.
